Scientists at the Zoological Society of London are leading a multi-year project to reintroduce native flat oysters to the Thames Estuary.

Early monitoring shows a 300 percent increase in biodiversity around the restored reef beds, including the return of seahorse populations and several species of juvenile fish that rely on reef habitat.

The project combines rigorous science with community engagement β€” local fishing communities contribute monitoring data while schools participate in reef-building workshops.
